Last week Refresh DC had its one year birthday. To compliment that, the group’s site has a new design up, brought to you by yours truly. I just offered to volunteer to design the new site, Jason Garber is to thank for brining that to life. I am a bit late in posting this as the new design has been up for a little while now, but I figure better late than never. Especially since our next meeting is on Thursday.

Aside from some aesthetic changes the site now highlights recent forum posts, our generous sponsors and some of the latest photos from our Flickr group. As the group has its first birthday, its amazing growth over the past year had to be reflected on the site – expect continuing growth from the group and site as we move forward.
I think Jason and Cindy Li have done a great job keeping the group growing – a big thanks to them for getting me involved and bringing us all together. Oh yeah, Happy Birthday Refresh!
Little Refresh love, I have to make sure to plug the next meeting on Thursday, February 15, 2007. Justin Thorp, web application developer currently contracting with the Library of Congress, will be giving a presentation on accessibility titled “Understanding The Real World Wide Web and Why Web Accessibility Is Crucial.” Justin will be covering different ways in which people use the Web, what you can do to increase the accessibility of your site, and how WCAG fits into it all.
If any of you haven’t checked out the new site, check it out now! And for those of you locals that haven’t yet been to a meeting, what the hell are you waiting for? It is a great time – a perfect mix of geek’ed out and casual; plus the happy-hour afterwards is always key.
Curious about the redesign? It's more of a design satire then a reflection of personal taste: Read More
It’s a great example of a one-page site. Very sharp. I only wish there were some new Flickr photos in there, since the current BW ones, while excellent photos, don’t look that great in the row of thumbnails.
The rotating header photo is especially nice.
And, yeah, I should try and make it to a meeting one day.
Thanks! Yeah, Cindy takes great photos, I’m sure more are on their way soon.
“try and make it a meeting”? Come on, lets go already!
Sweet man … great attention to detail, love it!
Well done on the new site. It looks impressive! I think it would be a nice concept to bring across to the UK side of the pond!
Thanks for the comment!
