If content is king then Robert Falls is the farthest thing from Royalty. Mr. Falls has created dozens of “landing pages” for editorial content that are nothing more than links to Google Ads. He has touted the Google links as his “Top 4 … picks” of the day for a variety of different market segments.
There really isn’t much more to say, just take a look for yourself.
I’ve actually reconsidered posting links to his pages (for your easy viewing pleasure) — I don’t want to be linking to this guy and in any way helping his slimy SEO efforts.
Needless to say, the list is exhaustive. You can view the entire list at the directory level: http://www.latestoffers4all.info/documents/

Curious about the redesign? It's more of a design satire then a reflection of personal taste: Read More
I looked at one of the pages. I found this at the bottom:
“
Here are my top 4 baby shoes picks for today:
http://www.ababyshoe.com - fantastic baby shoes
http://www.rightstart.com - baby shoes products
http://www.darlingbabyshoes.com - personalized baby shoes
http://www.robeez.com - famous baby shoes
“
The google ads aren’t necessarily being presented as his top 4 picks. They’re just near the headline. One set of ads has three links, the other has five. Still an immensely crappy page though.
If you REALLY want to see “when websites attack”, check out this page. It’s spectacular. It’s awful. It’s satire. But very useful. Analyze what makes the page soooo bad and then go back and make sure none of your pages have any of those features. I spent hours poking around discovering more and more layers of crapitude.
I also found this:
meta name=”generator” content=”EzGenerator 2.0.0.177″
meta name=”robots” content=”ALL”
meta name=”description” content=”"
meta name=”keywords” content=”"
Looks like a lame guy with a bad tool more than anything else.
You can’t put “Worst website ever” into the title and then not link to a myspace page …. talk about your journalistic misrepresentation!
HA HA! Good call — point taken. Bad misleading content is always worse than bad design, in my opinion.
HA HA HA! Check this out: http://www.latestoffers4all.info/documents/castro.html
His super poor video editing skills are also on display.
These types of pages really annoy me. Waste of bandwidth, disk space, and a good domain name. And there are so many of them out there too.
Well said. Not only is it slimy, it is down right annoying!
This goes so far beyond the bounds of Google’s accepted use that I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s banned before the day is through. He has PR0’s across the board - a good link drop though. ;)
For this and similar reasons, I’m losing faith in Google and already in search of a solution that involves human input to sift away junk from search results.
Nuri, this is definitely a problem with Google’s great innovation. However, I believe the success of the Google text ad is going to soon fade as more and more issues like this arise.
I believe most users are not yet conditioned to recognize these text ads as true “advertisements”. Once the mass public does begin to recognize these ads, they will become dismissed and easily ignored. It is these ads ability to hide and blend in that make them so successful – that will only work for so long.
To top it off, I bet he hired someone from getafreelancer or equivalent to write all his ‘articles.’ I wonder how much he’s making on clicks though. Hmm…
Ahhhhhh!!!! My eyes! My eyes!
I need goggles before I can look at that much less analyze it.
I often look for a Bonsey conspiracy; maybe nothing but there are suspicious links. When Google went public the Carlyle group put one of their own on the board, Dan Signor who’s married to NBC’ news reporter Campbell Brown. It’s just a very funny link between the largest information system and the largest alumni of the DOD and CIA combined, fyi.
Most of these people don’t write anything. They plagiarize content from other sites and repost it. Sometimes they edit it a bit but that’s all.
This guy is just as bad as the spammer who is forging my domain for their spam runs. Yes, I hate my email now.
Actually, now it just displays an Apache directory autoindex. No page at all.
In other “circles” that is called the /. (slash dot) affect.

Some times you can use the way back machine to find what you are looking for.

Thank you for that helpful tip and the heads up on the ad games Martin. It seems nothing is sacred, but Newsvine.
No problem Pamela! And WebWeasel, the site is still working for (maybe it was temporarily down). I actually got a little excited when I read your comment. I was hoping perhaps in some small way this post got him to take take down his ridiculous “landing pages”.
Yes annoying …. especially when you accidentally mistype an url and end up on a site that may fools you.
For example there is a great photo site Zooomr.com (with three O’s).
Zoomr.com (with two O’s) is a useless addlink photo site.
Heh, maybe he should just rip off Digg’s design ideas like Maryland media. Then maybe he will at least have a decent looking site.
Von, are you implying that I ripped off Digg’s design ideas?
There isn’t really much similarity between the two. I could see some argument being made for the choice of dark blue gradients, but that is a pretty giant leap I am willing to defend!
I guess not. It was early, and I hadn’t had coffee, and all I saw was the digg this button. It looks good, man. Good job.
No worries, thanks for the comment.
Was the link supposed to go to something other than a directory list? I had assumed you found one of the subpages and just chopped it out of the url. There’s nothing but a directory list.
